Entrepreneurship in the Service Industries
A discussion starter
Entrepreneurship is a widely-used term. However, like many such terms, it is often used with a range of underpinning assumptions that may differ depending on the context.
This paper aims to work towards defining the term and identifying a core set of skills, attitudes and behaviours that are relevant in becoming entrepreneurial.
In doing so, it explores the issues of entrepreneurship development, innovation and how these qualities can be taught, encouraged and applied to working in the service industries.
Finally, the paper provides some ideas for ongoing research as well as a case study that demonstrates the relevance of these skills to working in the service industries.
Service Skills is seeking feedback from stakeholders on the discussion points raised in the paper.
