Holiday parks and resorts

About the industry

Holiday parks and resorts range from small, traditional parks offering simple accommodation or camping grounds in natural environments - to large parks with swimming pools, sporting facilities, restaurants, spas, shops, conference centres, entertainment and children's activities. Most have a range of accommodation such as camping, caravans, chalets, cabins and apartments. They are usually set in attractive, landscaped gardens and most often are situated in picturesque locations, near the sea or bush.

A number of skilled people are required to maintain and run a holiday park or resort. That means there are many different jobs such as:

  • reception and office work
  • food and beverage service
  • housekeeping
  • gardening
  • cleaning and maintenance
  • organising and running activities
  • supervising and managing

Careers in the caravan industry include:

  • Caravan Park Attendant
  • Caravan Park Manager
