Service Industries Environmental Scan 2009 PDF Print E-mail

scan-logo-2009-smallThe Service Industries Environmental Scan 2009 draws together intelligence and research about existing and emerging trends and tendencies in the service industry sectors covered by Service Skills Australia and how these impact on skills and labour needs in the service industries. These include wholesale, retail and personal services (beauty, hairdressing and funerals), tourism and hospitality, and sport and recreation.

The Scan has two aims:

  • To highlight trends for the service industries as a whole, and elaborate on the most important developments for each sector
  • Outline the effects of these developments on the industries in relation to skills development and vocational education and training system, and flag where government responses should be targeted

The Service Industries Environmental Scan will drive also the development and improvement of Service Skills Australia's training packages and inform our future priorities for its work on behalf of the service industries.
