Tourism, Hospitality and Events Continuous Improvement
Tourism, Hospitality and Events Training Package Review
The SIT07 Tourism, Hospitality and Events Training Package is being reviewed as part of the continuous improvement process. The Training Package Review commenced in 2011 and is expected to complete in 2012.

The major review will be carried out in three industry-aligned phases:
- Phase 1: The Tourism Review includes the tourism qualifications and units
- Phase 2: The Hospitality Review includes the hospitality qualifications and units
- Phase 3: The Events Review includes the events qualifications and units
The Tourism, Hospitality and Events Training Package includes cross sector units that apply to all three sectors. These cross sector units will be reviewed in each of the three phases.
The Training Package will be submitted in its entirety for endorsement in 2012, at the end of the three phases.
Phase One: The Tourism Review
Project Scoping and Drafting Stage
During the Project Scoping stage, key issues were scoped with key industry stakeholders. The Tourism Review Scoping Paper summarises the key issues being considered in the review.

During the Drafting Stage, draft changes were made to the training package in line with the items raised in the Tourism Review Scoping Paper.
Consultation and Feedback Stage
National consultation for the Tourism Review Draft One was conducted in May 2011.
Consultation workshops were held in the following locations:
- Adelaide, 17 November
- Brisbane, 23 November
- Darwin, 7 November
- Hobart, 9 November
- Melbourne, 21 November
- Perth, 15 November
- Sydney, 11 November
Thank you to everyone who provided feedback during this stage. Over 120 individuals participated in the consultation workshops, and several individuals and organisations submitted their feedback via email and mail.
Feedback Analysis and Validation Stage
The Tourism Review Validation Draft was developed in response to the feedback on the Tourism Review Draft One.
The Review Guide for the Tourism Review Validation Draft summarises how the Validation Draft was developed in response to the feedback on the Tourism Review Draft One.

The Tourism Review Validation Draft was open for feedback in July-August 2011.
Feedback on the Validation Draft closed on 12 August 2011.
Thank you to everyone who provided feedback during this stage. The Final Draft of the Tourism Review will take this feedback into consideration.
Quality Check Stage
The Tourism Review is currently in the Quality Check stage.
The Tourism Review Final Draft is currently undergoing quality assurance checks. The Tourism Review Final Draft will be posted onto this website after this process.
The Training Package will be submitted in its entirety for endorsement in 2012, at the end of the three phases.
Phase Two: The Hospitality Review
Project Scoping and Drafting Stage

During the Drafting Stage, changes were made to the training package in line with the items raised in the Hospitality Review Scoping Paper. Targeted consultation was held with experienced chefs at a Technical Workshop held in October. This technical workshop focused on the areas of commercial cookery and patisserie. The feedback from the technical workshop has been incorporated into the Hospitality Review Draft One.

Provide strategic oversight and guidance to project work to ensure it is managed effectively and ethically.
Ensure that the project produces a high quality product that meets industry needs
Ensure there is appropriate consultation with all the relevant stakeholders
Provide views and feedback on behalf of the sectors and organisations they represent
Support and facilitate communication and consultation with industry, including the members of their organisation, association members and other industry networks
Thank you to everyone who participated in this stage. Over 350 individuals, representing over 200 organisations, provided feedback on the Hospitality Review Draft One through the consultation workshops and via email and mail.
Feedback Analysis and Validation Stage
The Hospitality Review is currently in the Feedback and Analysis stage. During this stage, the feedback on Draft One is analysed and incorporated into the Validation Draft (Draft Two)
The Hospitality Review Validation Draft will be available for comment February/March.
A summary of the feedback on Draft One will accompany the Validation Draft.
Phase Three: The Events Review
The Events Review is due to commence in April 2012
