The SIR Retail Services Training Package is the national framework for skills development for the retail, wholesale and community pharmacy industries. 

It includes nationally recognised units of competency, assessment requirements and qualifications to train and assess individuals in a range of skills and occupations.

Continuous improvement

As part of our process of continuous improvement the SIR07 Retail Services Training Package, including community pharmacy, is currently undergoing a review to ensure that content reflects current industry practices and meets the Standards for Training Packages. The review process will consist of nine phases.

The continuous improvement of the SIR Retail Services Training Package provides the opportunity for the industry, employers and employees and training organisation, to provide input into the current and future skills and knowledge requirements of the industry.

Retail services updates

The SIR Retail Services Training Package V2.0 has been submitted to the Department of Education and Training for endorsement. The training package has been developed adhering to The Training Package Development and Endorsement Policy and to meet the requirements of the Standards for Training Packages. It has undergone extensive industry consultation and validation and a full external quality review which deemed the proposed training package compliant with these standards.

The Case for Endorsement and the submitted components are available to both inform and assist in the planning activities of stakeholders. Submitted components can be downloaded here:

Community pharmacy updates

Submission for Endorsement

The community pharmacy components of the SIR Retail Services Training Package has been submitted to the Department of Education and Training for endorsement. The Training Package has been developed adhering to The Training Package Development and Endorsement Policy and to meet the requirements of the Standards for Training Packages. It has undergone extensive industry consultation and validation and a full external quality review which deemed the proposed training package compliant with these standards.

The Case for Endorsement and the submitted components are available to both inform and assist in the planning activities of stakeholders. The package has been loaded on training.gov.au and will be available for release when formal endorsement notification is received.
