Nationally Recognised Training Packages
Training packages specify the skills and knowledge required to perform effectively in the workplace. They do not prescribe how an individual should be trained. Training packages are used as the basis of programs delivered in the vocational education and training (VET) system, including apprenticeships and traineeships, training courses, preparing secondary students for work, recognition of prior learning and occupational licensing. Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) use training packages as the basis for developing learning and assessment strategies.
Each training package is made up of the followings:
Nationally endorsed components:
- Units of competency
The specifications of knowledge and skills required to perform in the workplace.
- Assessment requirements
Specify the evidence and required conditions for assessing competency in the specified industry or industry sector.
The packaging of units of competency into meaningful groups that industry agrees are sufficient for a broad range of typical jobs. These must align with the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF).
- Credit arrangements:
Specify arrangements between training package qualifications and Higher Education qualifications.
Non endorsed components:
- One or more quality assured Companion Volumes
A mandatory implementation guide and other guides to meet the needs of stakeholders as required.
Our training packages are developed by working closely with industry to meet specific needs and are continuously reviewed to ensure they are up-to-date and meet the Standards for Training Packages.
